As the Engineering Manager for the Recorder team at Descript, he leads OP engineers developing advanced tools for content creators. Zach co-founded SquadCast in 2016, successfully bootstrapping the company to $4m ARR as CEO and CTO before its acquisition by Descript in 2023.

Zach's expertise extends beyond startups. He has taught full-stack engineering at UC Berkeley, authored a book on the subject, and secured multiple patents in the field of remote recording. He has deep experience in design, software engineering, cloud architecture, digital AV, multiplayer apps, creator tools, and SaaS pricing.
